Next Course Friday 22nd May – Training in noma reconstructive surgery
A program of theoretical courses on noma with a focus on reconstructive surgery for sequelae has been running since April 2026. On Friday 22nd May, from 16:00 to 18:00 UTC+2, two online interventions will be held on trismus release and pre- and post-operative physiotherapy.
Since April 2026, a training course in reconstructive surgery for noma sequelae has been organized by three organizations of the International Noma Federation: Hilfsaktion Noma e.V, L’Association d’Entraide des Mutilés du Visage (AEMV) and Fondation Sentinelles. This training course consists of two distinct parts.
The theoretical part provides an overview of the disease and all that is involved in its management, far beyond surgery. These theoretical courses are therefore transversal and cover, in addition to surgical and anesthetic aspects, more general points such as holistic care or physiotherapy.
A practical part is organized for 10 selected African surgeons.
These courses are organized in modules and will extend over 8 sessions of approximately 1.5 hours. They will take place from April to August 2026 and will be given in English and/or French. They will be delivered exclusively online and are open to all people involved, working in the field of noma or interested in this pathology.
To access the theoretical courses, simply register through the online form.
You will then receive the exact dates and links to connect to the video conferences as they become available.
